Frequently asked questions
Everything about downloading, formats, iPhone, limits and privacy.
Downloading
How do I download a video?
Copy the post's link from the app's Share menu, paste it on our site and tap Get download links. Choose a file and tap the download button.
The download button opens the video instead of saving it.
Some browsers play video files instead of saving them. Right-click the video and choose Save Video As, or on mobile long-press it and choose Download. Files prepared on our server always download as files.
Why does it say “Preparing on our server”?
Videos that need merging or converting are processed on demand. Short clips take a few seconds; long HD videos can take a minute before the download starts.
My download link stopped working.
Download links are valid for 6 hours. Paste the original post link again to get fresh ones.
Quality & formats
Why do other sites give me a video without sound?
YouTube and Bilibili store HD picture and sound separately. We merge them into one MP4 with sound — other sites often give you only the picture stream.
What do H.264, HEVC, VP9 and AV1 mean?
They're video codecs. H.264 and HEVC play everywhere and save to the iPhone Photos app. VP9 and AV1 are used for 1440p/4K on YouTube and play in VLC and desktop browsers.
Can I get MP3?
Yes. Every video with sound offers an MP3 option in the Audio section. M4A or Opus originals are also listed when available.
Can I download subtitles?
Yes, for YouTube and many other sites. Subtitles download as SRT files that work in every video player.
iPhone & iPad
Where does Safari save downloaded videos?
In the Files app › Downloads (or iCloud Drive › Downloads). Open the video, tap Share and choose Save Video to move it to Photos.
What's the fastest way to save to Photos?
Our free iPhone Shortcut: Share › xMediaFetchBot in any app saves the video straight to Photos.
Why won't a video save to Photos?
The Photos app doesn't accept VP9 or AV1 video. Choose a file marked H.264 or HEVC — we recommend one for you automatically.
Limits, Pro & privacy
Is it free?
Yes, with fair-use limits: 10 analyses per 10 minutes before a quick check, 20 server downloads per hour and up to 720p for merged videos. Pro removes the limits.
Do you store my videos or links?
No. Server-prepared files are deleted right after they're sent. Technical logs (IP address and link) are kept for at most 7 days to prevent abuse. Your history is stored only in your browser.
Do you use tracking cookies or ads?
No tracking cookies. Some pages show clearly labelled sponsored links.
Can I download private or paid content?
No. We only process content that's publicly visible without logging in.
